We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who sponsored the Good Trek 180 which has raised over £15,000 for the RNLI.
Over 120 John Good employees, family members and friends took part in the sponsored walk between Liverpool and Hull, which took place recently.
Walkers were split into groups, and each tackled a different section of the 180 mile route which started at Liverpool’s Albert Dock and ended at Hull Marina.
Alan Platt, Group Managing Director, said:
“Thanks to the generosity of our customers, suppliers, friends and employees, we managed to smash our initial fundraising target of £10,000. We want to extend our congratulations and a big thank you to everyone who took part in raising so much money for a very worthy cause.
“As a business entrenched in the shipping industry, marine safety is something that’s very close to our hearts; indeed the original John Good was himself rescued at sea on two occasions back in the mid-1800’s and this therefore made the RNLI a natural choice. The money raised will go towards ensuring that the charity’s volunteer crews can go on saving lives at sea around the UK.”
The Good Trek route was chosen because it connected two of the UK’s major shipping hubs, Hull and Liverpool. The event was held to mark the John Good group’s 180th anniversary, and was followed by a well deserved celebration at its headquarters in Hull.
