We are delighted to announce that Saga Welco AS has appointed John Good Logistics as its exclusive UK port agent for vessels calling at Tilbury, Thamesport, Sheerness and Portbury.

Saga Welco, whose head office is in Norway, is a major operator of “open hatch” bulk carriers. The present fleet consists of 52 vessels of which 50 are equipped with travelling gantry cranes. Its box-shaped, open hatch vessels represent one of the newest and most sophisticated fleets of forest product carriers in the world today providing speed of loading and discharging.

John Good Logistics has entered into a long-term contract with Saga Welco and expects to handle around 25 vessel calls in the UK in 2016. In addition to the regular plywood cargoes, Saga Welco has entered into an agreement for the transportation of around 3.5 million tons of wood pulp annually from Brazil to world-wide destinations which will commence later this year.

The agency will be based at our London Gateway office and we are delighted to welcome Peter Wilson to the John Good team.

Peter has been looking after Saga Welco’s vessels in the UK for many years and we look forward to further developing this business in the future.

This is another major step forward in the expansion of our ship agency business throughout the UK and we are extremely proud that Saga Welco has chosen to partner with John Good Logistics.
