With the recent discovery of new, untapped offshore reserves, West Africa looks set to become a significant contributor to world supplies, opening up opportunities for business owners and exporters across the UK.

Over the past decade Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal and the Ivory Coast have all enjoyed strong economic growth fuelled by the development of their offshore oil programmes. The region is attracting significant outside investment, and there is an increasing demand for quality and reliable shipping services to the region.

With the recent discovery of new, untapped offshore reserves, West Africa looks set to become a significant contributor to world supplies, opening up opportunities for business owners and exporters across the UK. In addition to the burgeoning energy industry, opportunities are also opening up for UK companies in the construction, IT, food & drink and education sectors.

As UK agent for EuroAfrica Shipping Lines (ESL), we already offer a conventional and break bulk shipping service to and from the region with direct calls at a variety of UK ports.

By further developing this service, we hope to be able to offer more regular direct export and import calls to assist UK customers looking to do business in West Africa.

Alan Platt, group managing director of John Good, explains:

“The West African economies are developing quickly, and we want to help UK businesses to take advantage of this by expanding our services and providing high-quality, competitively priced shipping to the region for a variety of cargoes including projects, out-of-gauge and bulks.

“We would welcome enquiries from any exporter or importer who is currently doing business or looking at opportunities in West Africa.”
