A new partnership for one of John Good Logistics’s liner agency Principals will result in faster connections between the UK and Spain.

Specialising in short sea shipping and logistics, Oldenburg-Portugiesische Dampfschiffs-Rhederei (OPDR) will launch a new domestic and feeder container service later this month in collaboration with Team Lines.

The new service will link the ports of Bilbao, Felixstowe and Rotterdam with its first sailing from Bilbao on 13 October. The service will provide a fixed day schedule with fast transit times between Northern Spain and the UK, as well as the rest of Northern Europe.

Alan Platt, Managing Director at John Good Logistics, said the partnership was a very positive step and will help establish even stronger trade links with the Spanish market.

He said: “It is encouraging to see such a positive development within the industry at this time and will provide further choice and fast transit times for customers from carriers who are well known in the industry for delivering high-class, reliable container services.”

Till Ole Barrelet, CEO of the OPDR Group, is delighted his company will be partnering Team Lines, as it complements OPDR’s long-term business plan on the Iberian Peninsula.

He said: “Both our companies are specialists for the container traffic in and out of the Iberian Peninsula. With the integration of the port of Bilbao into our schedule, OPDR now covers all hub ports in Spain and Portugal, which will lead to short transit times that are ideal for sensitive cargo to the UK and the rest of Northern Europe.”

OPDR will offer all equipment types including 45’ Pallet-Wide High Cube containers and 45’ Pallet-Wide High Cube Reefer containers to accommodate a wide range of ambient and chilled products.

Alexander Saverys, Managing Director of Team Lines, said he is looking forward to improving the company’s service offering.

He said: “Through this co-operation with OPDR, we strengthen our position on the Iberian trades to Northern Europe and add more trans-shipment possibilities for door-to-door cargo moving to and from the Baltic Sea.

“We are very happy to start a new chapter in the long history of our companies and are looking forward to this big improvement in our service offering, which will greatly benefit our customers.”
