The Role

This role in our European Centre of Excellence will predominantly focus on developing and growing our EU FCL and Groupage activity – a great opportunity to build a bright future for both our clients and your career, and a chance to be a key player in EU freight operations at a time when it’s never more needed.

Previous experience in a freight operations role is preferred, but what’s most important to us is to find someone who has strong organisational skills, great attention to detail and an ability to build rapport with both clients’ and suppliers.

The Day-to-Day

In this role you will need to enjoy working closely with customers to deliver high service levels, as well as working with suppliers to establish competitive rates. Some of the daily tasks will include:

  • Receiving jobs and liaising with customers
  • Liaising with suppliers, overseas agents, European hauliers etc.
  • Providing daily transport solutions for our ever-growing import/export client base
  • Selecting suitable suppliers ensuring that price and service are appropriate to our customers’ requirements.
  • Negotiating rates and providing client quotations
  • Raising invoices in timely manner
  • Dealing with European Origins – Spain, Italy, Portugal, Germany & Poland
  • Managing FTL, LTL movements, import and export
  • Contacting clients daily making sure they are fully updated throughout the job process.
  • Undertaking duties other than your normal office duties from time to time.
  • Undertaking all duties with reference to Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) procedures and work instructions.

Essential skills needed for this role include:

  • Good phone manner
  • Confident
  • Work well as part of small team
  • Basic IT knowledge

Preferred skills for this role include:

  • Experience of Cargowise One (CW1).

Location: Plymouth

Working hours: Full time 37.5hrs (Start and finish times negotiable)
