Warehouse Operative Apprentice
In our busy warehouse at the Port of Felixstowe, you can make a real difference to the UK economy and supply chains – keeping our customers’ goods moving through the port.
This newly created role in our growing warehouse team is a great opportunity to work as part of a friendly team in an energetic warehouse, where no two days are the same and you’re always on the move!
You don’t need any experience for this role, what’s most important to us is to find someone who enjoys being on the move, keeping busy and above all mucking in with the team to get the job done.
In this role you will need to enjoy the excitement every day being busy, with a team spirit that is vital to get the job done. The main responsibilities include some of the below, and if you’re ambitious to learn more there will also be opportunities to learn a range of skills that are needed across our large, diverse warehouse.
- Picking, packing, and shipping customer orders
- Loading and unloading of containers, stock and deliveries
- Checking off stock, unpacking stock and restocking shelves
- Represent the business with visiting hauliers and occasionally customers
- Updating IT systems to ensure accurate stock control
- Ensuring all health and safety regulations within the company are adhered to
- Maintaining a neat and tidy work area
- Carrying out all duties with reference to Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) procedures and work instructions
Essential skills needed for this role include:
- A friendly, positive, hardworking approach to work
- Ability to read and write in English
- Great attention to detail
- Diligence and punctuality
Other skills that will help, but are not vital as we can coach you in these are:
- Experience of working in a warehouse environment
- Forklift or other industrial machinery experience
Reporting to: Warehouse Supervisor
Working hours: Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm
