Frequently asked questions

What are freight forwarders?

They organise the movement of goods around the world on behalf of an organisation or individual. Although this sounds simple, getting goods from A to B can be a complicated process. Therefore, it is the role of a freight forwarder to streamline this process as much as possible, making international shipping a painless experience

Freight companies do not necessarily own the vessels that transport cargo. These companies are known as non-vessel operating common carriers (NVOCC).

Freight forwarders work with various sea carriers, air carriers, rail carriers, road carriers, and other services to transport goods, taking responsibility for the goods and dealing with issues relating to logistics and documentation. Often, they offer additional services for a smooth and seamless process that can deliver goods right up to their final point of sale.

Where does Good Logistics ship to?

As an experienced global forwarding specialist, we offer international shipping and transport services. Whether you are importing or exporting from the UK, our expert team will make the process of moving your goods simple and stress-free.

Does Good Logistics offer port centric logistics?

We have warehouses at shipping and container ports in Hull, Felixstowe, Ipswich and Liverpool, plus a facility at Heathrow Airport dedicated to air freight logistics. Our warehouse facilities will collaborate with our freight forwarding department to provide you with a complete port-centric solution. Our Felixstowe warehouse is ideally situated for the swift transfer of goods from the quayside to the rack, helping importers save money by avoiding expensive quay rent and demurrage charges.

Can you offer customs clearance?

Yes. At Goods Logistics, our experienced teams can handle the completion of export and import customs formalities (NES customs entry, Intrastat, CFSP Messaging) at all main UK ports. Our teams of freight forwarding specialists and in-house customs experts work together to ensure your consignment flows through the process as quickly as possible. We also offer advice on import and export, taxation and clearance procedures, helping your consignments clear

Will I have to pay duty and tax when importing goods from outside the EU?

You have to pay duties and taxes to UK Customs when you buy goods from outside the EU. Once paid, your shipment will be released into the UK and sent to their destination.

The amount of UK duty you must pay depends on the declared value of the goods and the type of product you are importing. You can check the online tariff at www.gov.uk/trade-tariff.

Will I be able to track my shipments?

Yes. Our clients have 24/7 access to their shipments, including tracking information, custom clearance documents, invoices, etc.
